Volkswagen Beetle 1200 1973 Factory Sliding Sunroof

….Fully on the Road and ready to use… 1973 VW Beetle 1200 with Rare Factory Sliding Steel Sunroof, MOT until October 2018 Tax Exempt/Historic Tax Category and comprehensive history. Recently put on the road again after being recorded as last on the road in February 1996. The Beetle was known to me for a number of years and laid up in a garage not far away. It was sold to a friend of mine in 2009 when the lady that owned it was moving house, he kept it undercover for several years until moving it onto a work colleague of mine who again just stored it for number of years. I was looking for a little winter project and knew of this beetle that never got the care it deserved so persuaded my work colleague to part with it in September. This beetle was in surprisingly good shape and within four weeks sailed through its first MOT in 21 Years. This is a base model 1200 beetle so has the small centre headlining only, small rear lights and would have had blade bumpers too. However has some interesting options including Yellow Paint, Golde Steel Sliding Sunroof, Heated Rear Screen and reclining seats. No sooner as it was in my ownership the wings were stripped off, the old heater channels cut out, along with the Lower Front Inner Wings and Lower Rear Quarters, all this was replaced with new panels. The brakes got an overhaul including New Hoses, Brake Lines and a Couple of Wheel Cylinders, and the Brake Fluid was replaced. All four Track Rod Ends replaced and Steering Damper Engine Service, Full oil change and tune up. So, to get it back on the road the following parts have been replaced in September 2017. New BatteryBoth Heater Channels and End Plates Both Rear Quarter Bottoms and small amount of paint workInner Front Arch Bottoms Rear Pan Repairs Small Repair to Beam Undersealed and Wax Oiled Brakes overhauled and Fluid Replaced New Brake Pipes and Hoses Wheel Cylinder Rear All Track Rod Ends Steering Damper Wiper Blades Bulbs Used Empi 8 Wheels and Tyre Replacement Number Plates Engine Service/Tune Up Oil Strainer Gasket and Oil Change I’ve been using it myself at the weekends and have put approximately 150 miles on it since its MOT and it’s been great fun. I’ve continued to do an odd few little jobs including replacing the Decklid as the bottom lip had rotted out, a couple bits of bodywork and added a new trim set and T-Bars. The sunroof works a treat now, and I’ve tested the drains and they all work too although the dust seal could do with been replaced for looks only. This is a unmolested, presentable and honest beetle, it’s not show winner but is a great looking, fun useable little car. I have comprehensive history from 1990 to Present with MOT Certs from 1978 to 1993 suggesting that the Mileage of 132K would be correct. I’ve completed this project faster than I’d ever imagined due to its well kept nature and now need to move it on making space for the next project. Bad Bits Seats are a little saggy and could do with re-packing The Paint work I’ve done has a slight greener tinge and was difficult to match, its not bad but noticeable in some light. There are a few rust bubbles as pictured. Car is Located on Saltash, Cornwall (Near Plymouth) Looking for £4295
