VOLKSWAGEN 1303 BEETLE YELLOW

….The car. Original factory fitted Sunroof 1600cc Italian engine installed around 40,000 miles ago Empi 8 custom painted alloys and 4no. original steel wheels Modern Stereo fitted in the Car The History. We have owned the car for three years. In that time it passed all MOT’s with only a 3 or 4 advisories but this year failed MOT with some major welding required and beyond our capability such as the nearside and offside suspension component mounting. Other failure items are simple things I could put right. The outline refusal list is noted below. – Our family friend was the previous owner and they bought it in 1982 with 35,176 miles on the clock – However the engine soon blew up, so the current 1600 was fitted – It then had a full re-spray at a VW specialists – It was then used daily for a few years before it was then garage for about 10 years, but used every now and then -The car has been used in our family as a daily driver for 2 years and has covered 10,000 miles in 3 yrs with only one breakdown caused by the condenser calling it a day, so wasn’t anything major. – An electric pump has been fitted to the windscreen washers – Fitted with a 4 into 1 header with a ceramic tuckaway exhaust – Fitted with a heavy duty clutch – The engine is just incredible, never overheating and easily trundles down the motorway at 70mph. I managed to get 30 mpg out of the car travelling from Manchester to Loughborough – The car had previous welding for a small panel welded in the floor pan on the drivers side. – Paint is beginning to show it’s age up close, but still looks good. – It is currently running on custom painted empi 8’s but we do still have the original wheels as well. – The sunroof is factory fitted and worked well, until the handle broke and will also need a new seal. – Seat covers have been fitted over the original seats as I don’t like vinyl – A smaller sporty steering wheel has been fitted due to the previous owner being well over 6 ft. MOT Refusal list 1. Parking Brake has no reserve travel 2. Fuel cap/sealing device washer torn 3. Offside and nearside lower under carriage area seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded 4. Head lamps aim too high 5. Front shock absorbers have negligible damping effect 6. Leaking exhaust 7. Near side rear, offside rear and offside front suspension component mounting excessively corroded. 8. Nearside front steering component mounting is inadequately repaired 9. Steering column top bearing worn. Cash on collection of the car please. I can put you intouch with local car delivery companies should you need one. RELISTED AS BUYER DISAPPEARED OFF FACE OF EARTH!

1972 VOLKSWAGEN 1303 BEETLE

….This is my 1972 VW Beetle 1303 for sale in turquoise. I don’t know how many miles it’s done as the speedo has been changed so many times it’s impossible to keep count. It currently has 12 months MOT, which replaced the track rod ends, inner steering joint. A recommendation was made to repair the rust of the front drivers side of the floor pan, but currently it is superficial and can be sorted quite easily. The front brakes were also adjusted. It also has 12 months Tax, although it is in fact tax exempt. It will come with loads of spares, a few exhaust manifolds (although they don’t fit the engine I’m willing to give them away if you wanted them), a rear numberplate light cover, front and rear bumper and bumper brackets (I believe they’re europa bumpers, don’t quote me on that!), spare pea shooters, quarter litre of paint (matched to original colour), 34/3 carb, carb manifold to fit, carb single port ends etc. etc.I haven’t managed to fit the new carb, carb manifold etc. because of the exhaust manifold. The two manifolds don’t match up, I fitted a new exhaust manifold to the engine, but the carb manifold would need adjusting to fit. It’s a really solid car, engine starts first time every time. I started it up a couple of days ago after 2 months of inactivity and it fired first turn. I’ve recently serviced it, new oil spark plugs, leads, contact points, condenser. I’ve also adjusted the timing, so it’s all spot on. The carb that was on the engine when I bought the car is too small for it. Hence why I have a spare 34/3. This should give it a fair bit of kick once installed. It’s got a fair few rust spots, which I treated before the winter and primed, stupidly I just left the primer on so it soaked all the moisture in and rusted up again underneath, but again this is quite superficial and can be easily treated. The rear valance will need replacing, but they are relatively cheap, if you contact me in advance I can go and get one to add to the sale.I have painted the fuel tank, replaced all the rubbers etc. for the fuel tank filler and replaced the fuel gauge sensor. It has new Toyo’s all round. I went on a mission to paint all the wheels matt black last autumn, but only managed 3 as I was reliant on the sun to dry them. Unfortunately when I got the new Toyo’s on them it messed up the finish anyway, but they are still in good condition for steelies.Interior would need re-upholstering, I would’ve done it but I’m a skint student! and the speedo currently isn’t working, but it should just be the speedo cable, which aren’t expensive at all and easy enough to replace. I can include if requested.Overall, a solid car mechanically, just needs a bit of bodywork done! It has served me well over the past year and has been a really fun project and runabout. If you’re interested in purchasing my Beetle;Email me at: jstearn42@gmail.com or Jakstearn@hotmail.co.uk It is advertised elsewhere so I have the right to end the auction when I want.

VW Beetle 1303 project for auction, 2 vehicles in auction

….Well here goes, an auction for all my Beetle bits and bobs. One VW Beetle 1303 registered 15/06/1973 registration DTA 884L. This vehicle was purchased by me on the 19th June 2011. Lots of history with the car. I purchased the Beetle and drove it into my garage where i slowely took the car apart. I have photographed and bagged and listed all the parts as I went along.Registered 15th June 1973 (have not contacted VW as yet to see if built prior to Jan 1973).5 Former keepers. It has had a front disc conversion in March 2005, receipt for work in history.Has loads of old MOT’s. I have the registration document for the vehicle in my name. The 2nd Beetle included in this auction I purchased quite recently on Ebay. The chassis has Porsche brakes front and rear, IE discs etc all round. There are calipers with the car also.It has lowered front struts, rear shocks.Has 4 Cookie Cutter Porsche alloys with tyres. The chassis looks in really good condition.Bears the chassis number: 1332651164.There is no registration with this and will have to be applied for. The body on this chassis has been modified slightly as the previous owner was going to put a Subaru Impreza engine in it.He had removed some of the non structural metal in the front spare wheel well space, so as to install a radiator. He has also removed the rear valence although there is a new one with this auction. The body and the reason why i bought it, was that it is in excellent condition. Both heater channels are excellent as are the bottom of the A frames as is everything else on it. Also with this auction comes: • 2 petrol tanks• 2 sets of glass IE windscreen, rear window, rear quarter windows.• 1 x drivers door window• 1 x passenger door window• 2 x steering wheels (one standard and one 3 spoke)• 3 x laminated sheets with easy to read wiring diagrams for the 1303)• 2 x dashboards, one with crack and one in really good condition.• 2 x speedo’s• 1 x windscreen wiper motor• 2 x bonnets• 3 x doors• 1 x new rear valance• engine cover• Drivers seat / passenger seat and rear seat.• 5 x original 1303 wheels with tyres• 4 x chrome hub caps• head lining which was removed from car• interior carpet which was removed from car, not sure of condition, but can look and report back.• wiper motor cover x 2• dash mounting plate x 2• N/S and O/S headlights• The wiring harness in DTA 884L is in great condition. I have labelled it up as i have removed electrical items from the car. The harness is still in the vehicle.• Engine Tin ware.• Engine, on a D code and believed 1641, removed from car. Working when driven into garage. (Block already painted green).• Gearbox, still attached to DTA 884L. You raise the car up and then remove and lower the engine onto the dolly which fits around the trolley jack. You then pull the engine away from under the car, with the engine resting on the trolley dolly. I have taken a picture of the engine and you may be able to see it sitting on the dolly.
