….1973 Mk1 Volkswagen Beetle with re-conditioned 1600cc engine. Right hand drive. Good runner with new fuel pump, battery, (brand new carberator to be fitted when required). Needs general tidy up to bodywork, however, looks the business. Front seats newer padded out for comfort. Generally good condition. Empi wheels with white wall add ons. Tyres excellent. A real bargain as ready to drive away and finish off to your own specs. Remember this car is nearly 40 years old. The electrics have been overhauled and are fully functional. The car had been reconditioned in 1993 included a rebuilt engine. The engine has done about 10,000 miles and is a 1600cc model as the barrels and pistons were changed, heads with valves – (I have all bills £2980 ) All 4 tyres are brand new and the brakes have been overhauled all round. Gearbox and clutch are good. Driver’s seat has wear. Perfect first time restoration – Total time capsule!

….1972/73 VW Marathon Beetle Project I bought this in July 2010 to restore for my Partners Birthday, however for the 3rd time since then, I am now moving house again but this time downsizing and with no where to store her, this lovely original project is going. She is a Marathon Beetle, for those who don’t know what one is: “5000 ‘Marathon Beetles’ were produced to celebrate the Beetles world record production figure of 15,007,034 – that car (a 1302 Super Beetle) subsequently named the ‘World Champion’. ‘Marathon Beetles’ were offered as 1300cc Standard model and as a 1302 Super with special Marathon Metallic (metallic silver/blue, L96M) paint and unique silver and black sports wheels (Lemmertz made, part no. 000 071 475B – called ‘Baja’ wheel in US), with silver wheel nut covers and octagonal VW alloy centre caps.” This was the perfect project I could use to lure my Partner into allowing more projects in the future, however it backfired when I ran out of time, facilities, and storage to do much work on the her, and ever since has sat waiting for the keen hands of someone to restore her. The car has been off the road since 1994, it seems to be a 1 owner, low mileage car. This was purchased from a gentleman who advised this had been saved from a scrapyard and as a result, a reapplication for the Log book and a request to keep the same reg etc needs to made (£25 to do!) directly to the DVLA. After confirming this with the DVLA directly they advised the above needed to be sent with pictures of it’s current state and my intentions to restore it, but still have not gotten around to sending this application to them. The Original Vehicle Identity plate is fitted in situ in the tyre well, as well as stamped into the tunnel, VW Germany are able to provide a birth certificate to show the exact year of manufacture, meaning this could be tax exempt! This is original, unmolested, a total time capsule, never welded and is very much worthy of being saved. Rear heater channel end plates (both sides)Front lower inner archesDrivers side Heater channelDrivers rear Floorpan sectionFramehead Bottom plateDrivers rear crossmember section10mm hole next to drivers rear window (donor section included)Small hole above trim line on drivers rear 1/4 (as above)Section of spare wheel well requires repairRepairs to rear wingsLower rear quarter panels When I purchased this, I connected up a battery, replaced a few fuses, and everything worked on the car, I couldn’t believe it – electrics of this car not used and sat for so long just worked. The loom is unmolested and is very much original meaning no electrical nightmares! The Firewall and right inside of the rear passenger arch, engine bay etc is all pristine, and completely rust free. The original factory seam seal and rust protection preserved a lot of areas of the car, meaning it’s great condition still in lots of places, original glass all round, original VW rubber front mats, under dash shelf, glovebox liner with boot locking lever, original Bilstein Jack and handle. Passenger side door gaps are great and floorpan side is in great condition, as is the door, however the usual inner arch areas along the bottom need attention as normal. It contains it’s original unique Marathon interior, including all seats, door cards etc in fair condition, with some rips etc in drivers seat, and in usable condition for the rest. The Front suspension beam is rot free, and just has a bit of surface rust. The project is rolling, including the 1300 Gearbox fitted, also included are some very much saveable Genuine Last Edition Beetle Wings in primer (after being shot blasted), that could be very usable after a bit of work. ….My beetle project has to go as I have need a car on the road by next weekend for work, I have done nothing with it but do have a box of spares if it reaches the right price, Looks solid from wherei have seen apart from the damage at the front. All I have done with this car is moved into the dry from where it was in the pics. Drivers seat is frame only, steering column is loose but sold as seen, look at the pics and bid what you think its worth from that, starting at scrap value but fingers crossed someone might be willing to save her, trailor will be required, no major rush on collection but would like it to be within a week or so, deposit will be required £50. The body is not in a really bad state, floors are good enough to stop me seeing the ground but have not looked too close, sills still exist but could be worse under the paint. I have not tried starting the engine or turning it, all I have done is move it from where the pics were taken to a dry garage It has been sat for 18 years almost protected from the weather between two houses, good point lack of salt from the roads, bad point gravel drive. Make of it what you wish. There are no keys or v5 but new sets are cheap enough from the breaking cars on volkzone forum. If you have bid and now feel you want to retract your bids that’s not a problem I understand. This car is a project it won’t get on the road in a weekend but is a save able car. There is some bubbling on the bottom of the doors, other than that the paintwork is in excellent shape. MOT 08/12 – 3 minor advisories on the last mot. ….I drove this lovely little car around for a year until it failed the MOT on a few bits inc. welding and a couple of ball joints. I bought the parts, started welding but due to family responsibilities, finances and health problems never got round to fitting the parts or finish the welding. It has been SORN in my garden steadily rusting for about 6 years and after pressure from my wife I have to admit I’m never going to do the work so I need to sell it to someone who can or who could use the bits that still work. It needs alot of TLC but would make someone a really nice project. I’m selling it with anything that I have for it. I have the paperwork and the last time I tried the engine it ran ok. ….VW Beetle 1974 1300cc Welcome to the auction for my Beetle. I am reluctantly selling it – after a fantastic 3 months – to raise money for a Gap Year. Overall the car is in fine condition. The dash shows 33,000 miles – obviously this is difficult to ascertain as the vehicle is 36 years old. However the last 3 MOT Certificates show around about a 10,000 mile increase in total. To me, this indicates a healthy use of the vehicle. My beetle is taxed until June 2012 and has a valid MOT until July 2012. Work done in last 3 years, with all the documentation to support it, includes: 20/11/09 – Replaced Accelerator Cable 22/01/10 – Strip front axle, replace O/S front inner and outer ball joints top and bottom. Replace O/S front inner and outer wheel bearings and seal. Repair and weld O/S suspension tower09/03/10 – New V Belt on Alternator Reset Tracking Rocker Cover Gasket replaced Recentre Steering Reset O/S Wheel Bearing Unseize and Reset Door Reset Tyre Pressure. 16/04/10 – New O/S front wing Repair to N/S front wing Repair boot N/S Door Hinge Repaired24/06/11 – Floor plan welding in 5 places. Top and Bottom ball joints replaced to N/S front27/06/11 – Brake drums front and rear replaced.04/01/12 – New dash bulbs fitted. Brakes adjusted. As you can see the car has had extensive work done on it and as such it is mechanically sound. The car has also been resprayed – to a high standard – an eye catching yellow colour. The vehicle has also been fitted with chrome bumper brackets and chrome wheels. There is still opportunity for the new owner to put their stamp on the car. Had my circumstances not changed, I would have updated the electrics. However, as everything works it has not been a pressing issue requiring immediate attention. Overall, this is a fantastic little beetle. Retro and ideal for young drivers or enthusiasts alike. Safer than a Mini, very forgiving and the cheapest thing to insure on the roads.
